Energy optimizers

It is important to complete the vacuum system with "optimizing" control functions that will limit the use of compressed air and/or facilitate the use of a eco-friendly decentralized vacuum system.

AQR (Atmospheric Quick Release Valve) keeps energy consumption for part release to a minimum

Instead of using compressed air to release objects you can use the unique AQRs to provide fast release. The AQR is a valve that breaks vacuum seal in a suction cup, for example, by equalizing the pressure with atmospheric air and, at the same time, not consuming additional compressed air. The AQR 02 offers an even faster and more powerful release by combining the use of atmospheric pressure and a boost of small amount of accumulated compressed air to release the object. This is especially important when using big internal-volume suction cups in fast cycles or when handling very light objects. Fast release is as important as quick vacuum response in high speed applications (sealed or non-sealed). The AQR is also available as an integrated function in the VGS platform. With a single air-line supply hose for both the ejector and the release function, installation becomes very easy.

Unique solution for decentralized vacuum system – sense vacuum at each suction point with one common digital signal output

With special pre-wired T-connectors, several electro-mechanical switches, VS4128, can be serially connected to provide one common output signal. A decentralized vacuum system with several vacuum switches and output signals can be “reduced” to just one signal for the PLC or BUS-I/O. The concept makes it very simple to convert from a centralized to a more eco-friendly, decentralized vacuum system since the existing software for a centralized vacuum pump system with, maybe one or two vacuum feedback signals, does not need to be changed.

The system will also be easy to troubleshoot. If one vacuum source fails, the sequence is broken and the common output is not achieved, and the first vacuum switch in the sequence whose green LED is put out has the vacuum failure. One of Piab’s missions is to improve our customers’ productivity, and a way to do that is to help them change to decentralized vacuum systems. The T-connector + VS4128 vacuum switches are an excellent aid to achieve that objective.
